Warning: do not allow Rant to come into contact with skin.
So the company I work for installs security camera systems. One part of such systems is the DVR, or Digital Video Recorder. The cameras all connect up to this device, and it records the video for viewing later.
We've had quite a few issues with one particular brand that we've used in the past. Today, the bossman was contacted by the company that makes them, just a "Hey, how ya doin?" type call. He let them know pretty quickly that we stopped carrying their products, and why. Emails bounced back and forth like ping pong balls.
Later on today, a "higher-up" from the company contacts our head honcho via email. Roughly paraphrased, she told him that PC (computer) based DVRs are designed to last around 2 years.
. . .
Wht?! (In case you missed that, it was a very quickly pronounced, very high pitch "What?!")
(Yes it does. It does so. Sound it out, moron.)
Can you believe this loon? Her comment is just plain wrong on soooo many levels. Firstly, I can't believe she had the audacity to basically say, "What do you expect, these things just don't last long, prick." Secondly, I can't believe she had the nerve to admit that such a thing might be (I guess maybe, is would be a better phrasing) true. Lastly, I can't fathom that she had the balls to say all this, while being snippy about it, when her company has never published this information in the past.
Clarification: the company never stated that their products are temporary and engineered to fail in roughly two years. They are now informing a dealer of this little tidbit. They are informing the dealer in a somewhat caustic manner. Like we're supposed to just know. We're really a bunch of dumbasses.
The last thing that got under my skin is the fact that another brand of DVR we install has held up for years without a single hiccup. And guess what! It is a PC (computer) based DVR running WINDOWS. Dun Dun DUNNNN!
I don't sound as angry as normal during this rant, honestly because I find broadzilla's infantile behaviour, skewed logic, tact (or lack thereof), and speech to be pretty damnable funny. When my buddy called me this afternoon to fill me in, he even told me, "You'll find this hilarious." He's right, I'm giggling.
In closing, to the reps from the un-named company:
Suck it. Idiots.
