Sholy hit Batman

My Dad emailed me the other day, and I just had to re-post it. Thankfully, he not only agreed to let me put it on the site, he actually asked in the email if I would. Talk about luck.
Enjoy!
-Owen.

Ok, I have officially seen it all. I received a telemarketing text message from 503-857-9254, www.weRmp3.com wanting me
to go to their site to download mp3 files. My cell is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry, which makes it a violation
of FTC rules to make a telemarketing call to me. The problem:
1. Alltel, now a part of Verizon, charges for incoming text messages as well as outgoing. I've heard of double-dipping, but really!
2. weRmp3.com is located in Ebene City , Mauritius, an island republic off the coast of Africa. No really, I looked it up in Wikipedia.
3. How the hell did they get my cell number. I NEVER EVER give anyone my cell number, especially on internet forms. It is not on my
checks either. Ok, I realize it could be a computer dialed message. But, DAMN!!!
4. How many future text messages am I going to have to pay for upon receiving unsolicited and unwanted text messages?

Yes, I sent Alltel a message asking why I have to pay for incoming messages, telling them what had occurred, and what I intend to do.
(notify the Do Not Call Registry) I was going to send an ugly email to the weRmp3.com as well, until I found out where they are located
and that they ask for name, phone number, email, height, weight, social security number and sexual preference before allowing you
to send them an email. The very least I can do is block their number.

We are all sitting directly astride the horns of a dilemma.

On one hand, we have big brother invading our privacy. On the other hand, we have big business controlling every aspect of our lives, especially our pocketbooks.
Hmm, lemme see. I seem to remember a quote, something along the lines of, "a little revolution now and then is a healthy thing."

Kinda sounds like an Owen McGoogie rant, doesn't it? Wonder if Owen might be interested in posting it?
