Just a quick little post today, while I'm thinking about it. With the recent economic instability, some Americans are a good bit worried. Even though gas prices are now back in the realm of fairly reasonable, and bailouts a plenty are flying through the air, unemployment is still high, and many are struggling still.
Don't sweat it. This will pass, and we will fix it. Yes, my fellow Americans, this situation will be repaired, but not for the reasons you think. Buckle up. We will not get past this because we are brilliant. We will not overcome because we are the greatest nation ever. We will not surpass the odds because of some great pull-together-now national spirit. No fellowship or fiscal planning to the rescue here. We will correct the financial situation for one reason, and one reason only.
We are spoiled. We love our lavish lifestyles, and Americans will not let this pass. We will not sit and idly watch the comfortable lifestyle that we as a whole generally enjoy go the way of the dodo. Not because we are noble, not because we will band together. It's that simple. We, as a whole, are a nation of lazy, spoiled little brats, and we simply will not put up with the idea of bread lines or another depression, because we find the idea of it to be disgusting. We are so superior and egotistical that we look on this with disdain, and refuse to allow ourselves to become a "third world" nation. Don't get me wrong, all the good stuff and nice, noble moves will be made, thrown in the mix, but the bottom line is still there.
Having said all that, I love this country. I'm happy here. And I'm glad that we'll all get past this, one way or another.
Thoughts?
